it's annoying when you are on a page with a lot of hyperlinks, that wherever you move your mouse (or when scrolling, for example), a pop up appears whenever the mouse goes over a hyperlink. It would be better if you'd have to hover over the hyperlinks for about a second or two before the pop up appears.

I agree, it's *terribly* annoying and distracting. A work-around is to keep the mouse pointer in the sidebar on the left as you're scrolling through the page. But this shouldn't be necessary - it's a poor user interface design.
Adding a delay won't fix it. Nothing should ever happen automatically when hovering over a link in the article text, because it's nearly impossible to avoid doing that while reading most articles.
The pop-up should only happen when you purposely click on a link, then you'll get the short preview with the option to go to the page. There could be an option in the settings to turn off pop-ups and go directly to the page.
